When it comes to body work, it's not a one size fits all scenario. I have trained and train others to deliver a number of different techniques and depending on what issue the horse is presenting with will depend upon which of the tools in my skill set I will use.
I am currently working mainly in Equine Movement Therapy, this is where we find solutions in biomechanical movement that are showing up as soreness in the body. What is the "screaming" part or parts at this point in time. Equine Movement Therapy can involve just the horse, but I prefer to involve the rider as well to help integrate changes. Just like with external forces such as saddle fit, the rider can be a huge part in the puzzle. Although you may see a therapist for your won adjustments, the question is how do you relate to your horse in a dynamic situation. Dynamic meaning movement or motion.
One current projects is writing a course to help other therapists and riders.
You will also notice that I use the Photonic torches and laser at lot more than other Therapists. As a co-writer of the Photonic certificate course for Equestricare, you are engaging a therapist that has a solid knowledge of this tool, therefore I use it a lot differently than the majority.
Before I start any bodywork I will begin with a complete assessment of the horse, this involves a hands on assessment to identify areas of soreness and tension, as well as watching them move. The body work session will focus on releasing tension, realigning the body, helping to improve posture, movement and general wellbeing.
Most horses will instantly feel much better following a bodywork session. They will have let go of the tension they were carrying and be able to move better, making them happier and more relaxed. Occasionally there may be soreness post treatment, however i will advise you of aftercare one on one at our session based upon the treatment and my findings.
This process takes about 60 - 90 mins depending upon the issue and the horse and costs $110
I am a Qualified Sports Massage Therapist, and have also qualified in several other different therapies including
Besides co-writing the Photonic Therapy course with Equestricare, I am also a Teacher of Massage & Tissue Mobilisation.
