Rehabilitation
Can include inhand work only or ridden depending on the purpose of rehab. Often there is a mixture of both inhand and ridden. Lunging is part of the inhand section. The aim of course is a more stabile, stronger, balanced, confident horse that is not overloading any particular area, which will often reaggravate an old issue or create a new one
Equine Movement Therapy encompasses a whole team approach to be the most effective. Functional Solutions is just that finding solutions. Equine Movement Therapy is the foundation to Riding for Soundness .
Serious rehabilitation involves learning how the horse functions dynamically and what you need to do to prevent future issues and build them up so they can work correctly in the future.
I can teach you to apply a principles of forces, movement, spinal alignment and neutral balance to help create a more stable, balanced, stronger, confident horse. Help your horse to be the best that they can be with what they were born with or what they have now. I can help you see and understand if your horse is protecting an area/s and giving you a false sense of functional movement. I can help you understand if the exercise your horse is performing is helping or nor helping in the goal for future unsoundness. Often people do an exercise because someone said it lifts the back, or helps joint flexibility but how do you know ? How do you know if something else is now not over compensating for this new exercise ? Do you know what to look for in a backing up exercise ? Are hills always beneficial ? Why is pole work not functional for future soundness ?

Slow and Steady
Have you got a horse you are looking to bring back into work after a long spell, illness or injury?
When a horse has been out of work for a long period of time it is essential that you bring them back in slowly and safely to avoid any further injuries or soreness. Often if a horse was off due to soreness or an injury, they can remember pain associated with being ridden and may protect themselves expecting things to hurt. If they continue to not work correctly then they can cause stress and strain on other parts of their body.
As a horse movement specialist I can assist you to safely bring them back into work and build them up to be strong and supple and minimise chance of future soreness or injuries. I can teach YOU to know what you are looking for !
